TASK 2. Role Play "A Survey on the Role of the Internet"

Your partner and you have 5 minutes to do this task.

Your friend and you take part in a school project called „The Influence of the Internet on Students' Life“. Your task ir to carry out a survey among students of senior grades in order to find out/define what role the Internet plays in their lives.

Discuss the issues below with your partner to prepare for the survey:

  • advantages of having the Internet at home;
  • purposes for using the Internet at school;
  • addiction to the Internet (games, chats, e-mails);
  • dating/making friends on the Internet;

  • It is said that the Olympic Games are not just a sports event, but also a political event. Would you support this view? Why/Why not?

TASK 2. Role Play "A Clean-Up Day at School"

Your partner and you have 5 minutes to do this task.

Your friend and you are members of the environmental club called „The Environmental Enthusiasts“. You have decided to initiate a clean-up action inside and outside your school.

Discuss the issues below with your partner and make a plan for this environmental action:

  • time and length of the action;
  • advertising the initiative;
  • tasks for each class;
  • recording the event (taking photos, making a video etc.);
  • organizing a mini thank-you party for the participants.

TASK 2. Role Play "Politeness Week"

A good atmosphere at school contributes to better academic results, therefore, your friend and you approve of the initiative of the Students' Council to organize a Politeness Week at school. You both are responsible for the preparation of a scenario of the Week.

  • aims of the Politeness Week (raising awareness, establishing a proper behaviour code, etc.);

Your school has a tradition to end the school year by a concert for parents and school sponsors. Your friend and you belong to the Music Club and have always been active in organizing this event.

Discuss the issues below with your partner in order to make suggestions to the school administration for this event:

  • disadvantages of outdoor concerts;
  • advertising the event;
  • preparing invitations;
  • programme of the concert (making speeches, singing, playing musical instruments, reading poetry, dancing, acting etc.);
  • lighting of the stage and fireworks.

  • need of foreign languages in today's world;
  • getting information in foreign languages;
  • ways to learn a foreign language outside school;

  • How could environmental problems be solved? What could people/governments do to save the environment?
  • Do you consider yourself to be an environmentally-friendly person? Why/Why not?

TASK 2. Role Play "How to Choose a Specialisation/Profile"

Your partner and you have 5 minutes to do this task.

Your partner and you are members of the School Council. One of the questions discussed at the Council each year is student specialisation after basic school. The problem is that some students find it difficult to choose a specialisation and select a suitable programme for the 11th and 12th forms. You have decided to organise a meeting with the 10th formers to help them make a decision.

Discuss the issues below with your partner and plan the meeting:

  • differences among specialisations/profiles (number of lessons per subject, basic or extended subject courses, textbooks etc.);
  • differences between the basic or extended course (B level or A level);
  • time and place of the meeting;
  • deciding what topics each of you will present;
  • possible questions from the 10th formers.
